One of our founding Directors, Bronwyn Ward-Manson says:
Growing up in the desert in South Australia taught me about life. It taught me about people, situations and how to be tenacious and resilient in the face of adversity. Growing up in the west coast of Scotland taught David how to face adversity and build resilience and tenacity dealing with extremes of weather. These qualities bond us.
My favourite saying is:
Don't underestimate your ability to push through fear.
Growing up in the desert I also learnt so much about people - their kindness, generosity and willingness to support and help others no matter who they were or what they did. It is these qualities that bring hope and optimism.
John Lewis, US Congressman and the man who had been beaten very nearly to death on “Bloody Sunday” in Selma, Ala., 40 years earlier, said:
Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Do not become bitter or hostile. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble. We will find a way to make a way out of no way.
